Life, Love, & Laundry

This week something amazing happened. You may think I am exaggerating but I assure you, I am not. This news is life changing....for me....maybe me alone but that is ok, I believe it is worth celebrating. Now, not all of my readers will understand my excitement, but I know I cannot be the only parent who celebrates these milestones.  I will explain by stating that after over 26 years of parenting, there have been lots of firsts and lasts over the years. Some are welcomed with smiles and others grieved with tears and I can guarantee some have been missed...

We live in the country, but on a busy road. It is not exactly what we were looking for in placement of our land and house. But the land and house were worth the sacrifice of living on a busy road. The house is far back enough that we have a good sized front yard, with a ditch to help our dogs and kids (although they are all old enough now to not go near the road) know the boundaries of the lawn.  Even the noise of the cars going by lessens the longer we live here, not because of...

One memory I have from growing up was Sunday drives. We did not take them every Sunday, but I do remember taking them. One special thing we used to do was go through the MacDonalds drive through and we would each get an ice-cream and a fry. We would dip the fries in the ice-cream. To this day I can close my eyes and "taste" how refreshing that felt in the backseat squished with my sister and my brother....There was always giggling, I am sure some fighting too, but I only remember it as a pleasant experience, a fond memory. ...

I was thinking about what comforts me, not necessarily when upset, but even the little things I do during normal days, just to show myself I care....for myself. The little things that help me take a step back from the daily grind and remind me that life is meant to be enjoyed.  I wrote a blog on singing, not performance singing, but just singing for myself, because I enjoy music, and I would put that under my list of comfort tools.
