The Silent Storm: How Stress Impacts Your Health (and My Crohn's)
Posted by Benjamin Stevens on

Stress. We all experience it. It's that tightening in your chest, the racing thoughts, the inability to truly relax. But what many don't realize is the profound, and sometimes devastating, impact stress can have on our physical and mental well-being. It's not just a feeling; it's a physiological response that can wreak havoc on our bodies. This month is stress awareness month. Did you even know that was a thing? Think of stress like a constant, low-grade alarm system. When we're stressed, our bodies release hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, designed to help us cope with perceived threats. While...
My Love/Hate Relationship With Exercise
Posted by Lisa Stevens on

Journey….journeys….I feel like life should be one journey, but it is not. I feel like it is a series of them, sometimes all jumbled up together and sometimes several simultaneously happening. I am going to write about one of the journeys today. But, I am not positive 2021 will be any better. I am (overall) a hopeful person, I have hope that 2021 will bring us all (collectively) a better year...but I am also realistic and am not expecting any miracles. Would I love one? Of course...but I wouldn't even know where to start in trying to decide what miracle to wish for. We...
Quitting Is Not Always Failing
Posted by Lisa Stevens on

Have you ever had a hobby that was fun? You loved learning everything about it...Then one day, you say to yourself, I love this so much, I wish I could get paid to do it. Get paid to do something I enjoy doing?!?!? That sounds amazing (and I know this sounds like it might be a MLM advertisement but it is not...so keep reading...lol) Why would I NOT want to do that? So you do what is necessary to turn your hobby into money. For some that involves school, but after awhile of doing the school you begin to realize...
