It's Not Easy Going Green - December 2018

Sometimes the hardest areas in our life to convert to the going green lifestyle is the traditions we have that we are deeply connected to from our past.  Christmas is one of those areas for us, and likely you as well.  The extra lights for decorations, the gifts, the wrapping paper, the excessive food, the deliveries, and much more.  We have said in the past our purpose of these blog posts is to make permanent changes once a month in our normal practices.  We hope that this not only has impact on our way of living and our planet but...

An Unapologetic Merry Christmas

Unless you have lived in a cave for the last few years, you know there has been much discussion about using the phrase Merry Christmas.  The more recent trend, that is deemed politically correct, is Happy Holidays.  As you read this, for any of you that know me, you are likely suspecting I will say it should be Merry Christmas, because of my Christian upbringing and that I was a pastor for 12 years.  Some of you may be thinking, Ben is a pretty liberal guy despite his religious views, he is likely going to say we should use the...

Where Did All The Chickens Go?

Where Did All The Chickens Go?

We have never really shared much about the story of what happened to all our chickens.  This is that story. When we moved to the country here at Ever After Acres we were convinced by the kids that we should get chickens.  We agreed making it crystal clear the work involved was on the kids and that we would help, but ultimately it was their responsibility.  It grew a few chickens here and a few chickens there and before we knew we had over 50 chickens in our backyard.  Initially, we let them roam free with a coop to sleep in...
