Do you ever look around your house and wonder where you got all your stuff?
I don't mean in the sense of "Wow, so much stuff!", although that happens too. I mean "Where did so much of it even come from?" While maybe not this bad it sometimes feels like one of those find the hidden objects pictures.
I know some things, things I bought or someone gave me as a gift. I can look around and place things in categories....bought new, given new, bought second-hand, given second-hand...but then there is the "I have no idea where this came from".....and when I ask others in the house, sometimes they can illuminate for me, but most of the time it is just as much a mystery to them as it is to me.
Is that strange? Do we have too much stuff? Is that why that happens? Or is it just our memories are failing? Or are there elves that sneak into our house while we sleep, leaving anything just to confuse us? hahaha I am going to go with that excuse, since it seems just as likely as any other explanation.
We have been married for 26 years, and we both brought things with us, I am 44 years old and my memory is not great....so it really should not surprise me. We had a flood about 10 years back, so when I try to find something I know I once had, I just blame it on the flood. We lost a lot, some was not stuff that could be replaced and some was just not worth replacing.
That makes more sense to me....losing stuff rather than finding random unexplainable cooking utensils or books that no one owns....or even cloths. hahaha How do we have several sweat shirts that belong to no-one???
Either way it brings a strange feeling, losing stuff or finding it not knowing where it came from. These are scenarios I never dreamed of when I used to imagine what being an adult was like. lol But in the end, it is stuff/things....and since life (my life anyways) is not about what I own and do not own, I guess I can gladly chalk it up to the elves.
