Covid Chaos

Everyone reading this knows that we are a small business. Not as small as some, but pretty small. We have been in business for 5 years now....we started because we decided we wanted a different kind of life than a 9-5 job/career gives. We were not out to make a million dollars (but as someone recently said...a million dollars is not what it used to be...lol) we just wanted to grow as a family and get to spend time with each other, watch our kids grow and enjoy the life we have. Our goal was never to expand our business...
I'm Not Proud Of My Daughter For Being Gay
Posted by Lisa Stevens on
Here’s the thing about gay pride. We are not proud of our daughter because she is gay. Just like we are not any more proud of her because she has size 8 feet or brown hair…that is a part of her, how she was born...who she is…. What we are proud of is the fact that despite all adversity in today’s world for the LGBTQ community…she had the courage (at 13 none the less) to be her true self and share that part of her, not only with her family (which is a big deal), but also with the world at...
Happy Pride Month

Hi I’m Adaliah, I’m 13, and I’ve always felt more...different then my friends, and the other kids around me. I always thought it was because of being homeschooled, though I guess I was always kind of weird anyways. I never could have guessed it was because I’m a lesbian. Although, apparently everyone else could tell. This is kind of my coming out story. It’s a funny story, to be honest. All of it started in a tent in our yard, one summer very early in the morning, around 3 a.m., with my sister and my best friend. We were overtired,...

Homeschooling: Reading Lessons Part 2
Posted by Lisa Stevens on
The last blog post I finished off with the reasons why we started homeschooling and Adrianna's journey. I said there are 4 more kids to come, with very different journeys than hers...and really from each other. Each child is so unique in what "method" of homeschooling works best for them. Like I mentioned in the last one, to me the most important thing I can teach my children academically is to read. I believe once someone can read, their whole world is opened up and they can (in theory) learn anything they wish. (Sure, there are hands on/technical learning that...
Homeschooling: The Journey Part 1
Posted by Lisa Stevens on
I had always been intrigued by homeschooling, even when I was younger. When Adrianna was getting to be school age, I looked into it. Back then there was not very many resources and/or people in our community who homeschooled. There were some, but not many. The year before she was to enter kindergarten, I had actually got the books I would need to homeschool her (not work books and that type of thing....but a very large binder that gave all the curriculum outcomes for each grade/year from the district), I had poured over it and was in the midst of...
