We Need To Talk About The "F" Word
Posted by Ben Stevens on
The human body is a weird and wonderful thing. Such as witnessing the birth of your children, thinking this is the most beautifully disgusting thing I have ever seen. The various processes that occur within the body are fascinating. My brain contemplating my very existence, recalling random facts from thin air, calculating complex problems, making thousands of choices a day, all while not being able to figure out what I came downstairs for. Why am I down here??? I'm here to talk about the weird though cause we have no problems talking about the wonderful stuff openly and honestly. It...

Sand or Spikes?

This picture of me crying while one of my best friends and my sister look at me has an interesting past. So often images from our childhood are actually the only memory we have of that moment. I would guess most of us have things we don't truly remember but rather things we were told about our childhood that have become as real as memories. One of those for me is about our dog Heidi growing up and how she bit me, piercing my ear. I have heard that so many times but have absolutely no actual memory of...
Anyone Excited For Summer?
Posted by Ben Stevens on
I consider myself very fortunate that when I was a kid my summer involved the beach at Cassie Cape, the Washademoak Lake, the Amherst Shore and the occasional trip somewhere in the Maritimes. With the beautiful weather yesterday and today I got thinking about summertime and reflecting. I had a pretty well rounded childhood playing with dolls, dinky cars, G.I.Joe, transformers, cabbage patch kids, care bears and lots more. My parents, like all parents, were not perfect but they came pretty close. Trust me, the majority of my faults and flaws were self acquired in adulthood. :) If you take note...

A Few Things I Miss About the 80s
Posted by Ben Stevens on
My kids love The Goldbergs, a tv show situated in the 80's. I strongly recommend, it's a great show with lots of laughs and it both is set in the 80's and feels like an 80's sitcom. My daughter Adaliah wishes she had been a kid in the 80's and I get it because for a lot of us it was a great time to be a kid. Here are three things I miss about the 80's. 1. I miss Saturday morning cartoons. This could easily have been called, I miss limited choices. When I was a kid we...
